that we would be playing with snakes and alligators! Last week we had a 4th grade from one of the local schools, field trip to Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge. One of our assigned stations was the Reptiles. Little did we know that it was “hands on”. After a very quick instruction on how to handle the snakes and the baby alligators, we were turned loose. One of the two baby alligators was 18 inches long and the second was about 4 foot long. We held the little one in our hands and held the head of the bigger one so the kids could touch. I have admit that the Hognose snake is really cute. The face doesn’t look like a regular snake, it has a little turned up nose, kinda like a pig. And it looks like it is smiling.
Friday we took the reptiles to a Catholic School in a suburb of Houston. The kids were 3 years old up to 8th grade. It was so fun to watch the kids faces when they got to touch the snakes and the gators.
