Last week we made the trip to Houston Space Center. There is a really cool space museum with a lot of items that went into space with the astronauts. Lots of hands on stuff for kids of all ages.
We rode the tram over to the working/training area. We got to see the actual mission control center that was used for the Apollo flights and we sat in the Visitor Viewing area, where the families sat as their loved ones made history. There is also the Mock Up building where the flight crews train with mock ups of the different space modules. Unfortunately there was no training that day, would have loved to see that. We did get to see the Orion Flight Capsule mock up. Orion is going into space in the next few years.
I think one of our favorite exhibits is the real space shuttle ” Independence”. We went inside both the shuttle and the jumbo jet that transported the shuttles, definitely awe inspiring!
